Some of our common FAQs

Our highly qualified healthcare providers will spend time with you (and your child if they are having a child/teen assessment) to learn more about you/them. Depending on the assessment, a detailed developmental history will be taken as well as an observational assessment. If applicable, information from your child’s school will also be gathered as part of the assessment process.

For adult mental health assessments, you might be asked about your thoughts, feelings, physical health, finances, relationship(s), housing, work, ambitions, culture, gender and sexuality, any drug or alcohol use and past mental health.

Yes, we require the young person to attend the initial assessment. Assessments for children can be carried out via remote online appointments under the supervision of a parent or carer, which can work best for some patients. For patients and families who would prefer an in-person appointment please detail this when filling in the self-referral form and we will be in touch to discuss availability.

ADHD assessments take approximately 2 hours.

Autism assessments take approximately 2-3 hours.

Our assessments follow the guidelines outlined by the NHS and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). All of our assessments are completed by qualified healthcare providers and are likely to be accepted towards an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) if needed.
