What is ADHD?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects behaviour. People with ADHD may find it hard to concentrate, may seem restless or act impulsively. There are an estimated 2.6 million people in the UK with ADHD.

Our assessment includes a comprehensive review of your medical history, behaviour, emotions and wellbeing with one of our highly skilled clinicians. To diagnose ADHD, you must have a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that has a direct negative impact on academic, occupational, or social functioning that has been present since childhood.

The process will take around two hours. ADHD assessments for adults can be carried out via remote online appointments, which can work best for some patients. If you would prefer an in-person appointment please detail this when filling in the self-referral form and we will be in touch to discuss availability.

About your assessment

What happens during the assessment?

Our specialist assessor will spend around two hours with you to understand your symptoms and how ADHD may have been present throughout your life. The core assessment will include gathering psychological, developmental, social and clinical history.

Our ADHD assessment follows the guidelines outlined by the NHS and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

You will receive a full report with our findings and recommendations within two weeks following your appointment. All our assessments include a feedback session so that you can ask questions and plan for further support if needed.
